National Day of Prayer for the Pacific

The NZ Council of Christian Social Services, with the support of many Churches in NZ, have organised a National Day of Prayer for the Pacific. This comes in response to a demand from many in our communities to share with others their grief at the events in Christchurch, Japan and at Pike River.

A service will be held at St Andrews Anglican Church, Cambridge on Saturday 30 April at midday.

If you can’t make it to the service you may like to take time to reflect on the people of the Pacific as you watch this video.

All Welcome.

Stations of the Cross return to Hamilton Gardens

After a sabbatical year in 2010, the Incedo team have returned with Stations of the Cross in Hamilton Gardens again for this year.

This is sure to be a highlight of the Holy Week experience in the Waikato. I encourage you to head along at some stage during the week, or to join us on Wednesday evening at St Andrews for Evening Prayer at 7:00pm. After the service we’ll carpool and head into Hamilton for this Holy Week experience.

Reverend Rider and friends join Ulysses Toy Run 2011

The Ulysses Cambridge to Hamilton Toy Run in support of Child Cancer Foundation roared through the streets of Cambridge on Sunday 27 February. We were delighted to have a group of keen motorcyclists from the parish join the ride again this year. The parishioners were very generous again with donations of toys for the Child Cancer Foundation and following the 9:30am service we were helped to load over 100 toys onto our bikes. The sun was out, the crowds were lining the streets and we had a wonderful experience, helping to bring a bit of joy and gladness into the world. Thanks to everyone who made the day special and for my motorcycling companions, Chris, Emily, Laura and Adrian …. Andrew (Reverend Rider! – thanks for the nickname Ann!)

These photos have been kindly provided by Ann Huston at Cambridge Edition and were taken by Shayne Eldridge.

Youth Group starts the year with an AutoeXperience

St Andrews Youth Group spent a Friday evening recently at Autoworx Mistubishi Dealer in Cambridge. Thanks to Neil and Rob from Autoworx who showed us through their race and rally cars. We also spent some of the evening learning about the basics of car maintenance and in particular how to change a flat tyre. The evening finished with a pit-crew competition, complete with ear muffs and rattle guns. We had a great night and a big thanks to Neil and Rob for making it such a special start to the year.
